The collation of results for the Osun State governorship supplementary election results is ongoing at the INEC collation centre in Osogbo, the state capital.

Stay with us for updates.

The collation process commenced with the returning officer for the election reading out the results from Saturday’s vote.

After reading out the votes secured by each candidate on Saturday, he informed party agents, observers and journalists present that the results announced on Sunday will be recorded into a new form after which the supplementary election results of today will be collated and announced.

There will then be a merger of the initial results (announced on Sunday morning) with the supplementary results, after which a winner will be announced and returned.

The PDP agent, Deji Adeleke, has, however, raised an objection, asking INEC officials to double-check the initial figures in order to avoid recording errors, especially in Osogbo.

He said the expectation was that the results from Saturday would have been doublechecked with regard to some of the issues his party pointed out on Sunday.

“Subsequently, we have also met with officials of INEC and we had pointed these (issues) out. We were told that those would not be attended to until today’s supplementary election is concluded,” he said.

He added that “it would be unfair” if the contested figures were recorded as the foundation for the exercise.

The returning officer responded that his observation has been noted and will be treated by the Resident Electoral Commission.

Some other party agents disagreed with the request and called for the collation of results to proceed. They urged the PDP to take its case to the tribunal if it is unsatisfied with the outcome of the election.

The returning officer said the issues from Saturday had been listened to and addressed and the results collated on Sunday was signed by all agents. Therefore, it won’t be revisited.

The PDP agent stressed, however, that he did not sign.

The transfer of the figures collated for the candidates on Sunday is ongoing.
