CSDC Global appointed as revenue consultants for Abia

Abia State Government has appointed CSDC Global Revenue Consultant, a revenue management consultancy firm, as its official revenue administrator.
This is as the State moves to stop multiplicity of taxes and touting, especially in Aba, its commercial hub. This move is also expected to shore up the internally generated revenue (IGR) of the State, Ugochukwu Ogbonna, chairman, Abia State Board of Internal Revenue (BIR) says.
Ogbonna in an interaction with newsmen in Umuahia, observed that revenue collection is an exclusive job of professionals, noting that the present administration in the State, has done well to eliminate double taxation, especially in Aba, the commercial hub of the State.
He explained that sanitation levy (ASEPA fee), advertising levies coordinated by ABSAA and many others have been summed up in one demand notice, thereby making it easier for entrepreneurs and other residents to pay taxes.
He also explained that operational permit, demanded by some fraudsters in Aba, is illegal and advised business owners in the State to report such individuals to police or other security agencies.
He stated that the State Government has set up about 32 courts to prosecute defaulters and tax evaders after 30 days of notice.
Akinyele Oladeji, State consultant on revenue mobilization, stated that individuals are not permitted to collect taxes rather, all banks in Abia State are now the revenue agents, where people can walk in and make their payments, as indicated on the demand notices.
He differentiated the two types of taxes to be paid in Abia, as Consolidated Revenue and Flying Revenue. He stated that consolidated revenue are all paid into the banks, while all the flying revenues, as those paid by tricycle (Keke) operators are being collected daily, by their union leaders.
Oladeji maintained that people can now make payments from the comfort of their homes using www.abiairs.com/pay, to access the payment portal of the State BIR.
He urged people to stand on their rights and refuse to pay to fraudulent individuals.
