The chances of the All Progressives Congress, APC to win the 2019 general elections in the North East geopolitical zone have been boosted according to the report of the Governor Tanko Almakura Peace and Reconciliation Committee.

Findings of the report indicated that aggrieved members of APC particularly those who contested for primary elections but could not win and felt maltreated assured that they would not dump the party but work for its victory in the 2019 general elections.

APC had after its acrimonious primaries constituted National Peace and Reconciliation Committees to reconcile aggrieved members in the six geopolitical Zones with Governor Almakura as Chairman of the North East Committee.

Almakura while submitting report of the Committee to the APC National Working Committee at the party’s National Secretariat on Monday informed that the decorum with which aggrieved members aired their grievances and expressed confidence in the party, APC would win elections in the North East.

He said, “we are also appreciative of the support and cooperation and maturity of the leadership in these zones. The stakeholders and particularly those who were aggrieved. They made their presentations in the most expected decorum and etiquettes for venting their grievances without sentiments; misdemeanor.

“I believed this is a sign of good omen. But, in spite of what must have happened during the primaries which is usually in every kind of dispensation. One’s position is required but there are many people angling for it with complaints here and there. But, the commitment of our party members and confidence in our party leadership to vent out their grievances speaks volumes of their loyalty.

“But, I believed this is a sign that we will have victory in the forthcoming election. I believed with the commitment and loyalty of our party members our party, the APC will surely win virtually all the North East and the categories of elections to be conducted in February God willing”.

Almakura who refused to disclose the recommendations of report however, told journalists that the Committee received more 350 petitions from aspirants.

According to him, “Right from governorship primaries up to the State Assembly election we have presentations of more than 350 aggrieved persons. Some were clustered into joint presentation”.

Adams Oshiomhole, APC National Chairman who received the report on behalf of the NWC promised to carefully study the findings and recommendations of the Committee and swiftly jump into action to ensure that the remains united and strong to win the 2019 general elections in the North East and the entire nation.

“I am excited by the comment you made, the fact that people have not decamped and that that have faith in the president, they have faith in the party, and we will do everything to service that faith, we will do everything to justify the confidence they have shown to your committee and to our leadership”, Oshiomhole said.
