The President, Motherland Beckons movement, Ambassador Wanle Akinboboye, has disclosed that the Africa International Music Festival (AIM), the second edition of which was held from December 7 to 9 2018 at La Campagne Tropicana Beach Resort, Ikegun, was not a mere musical  jamboree, but “an indigenous concept of revving African music and songs  to stoke the Africanism consciousness  in us  for the  strengthening and  amplification of the nobility of  the black race.”

Ambassador Akinboboye pointed this out in his speech while declaring open the 2018 Africa International Music Festival, at La Campagne Tropicana Beach Resort, Ikegun, village, Ibeju Lekki, Lagos.

Addressing the mammoth crowd which include the traditional chiefs of Ibeju–Lekki, President of……. Television, Turkey, Ambassador of Cote d’Ivoire in Nigeria, Mr Samson Siasia, Dr Akinboboye pointed out “Our gathering here at this momentous time and period is not  just only  to dance and wriggle our waists  to the finest  beats of African music or listen with fresh  excitement to the most melodious of songs streaming out from mouths of wonderful  beautiful stars of Africa in sonorous tones, but we are here to stimulate our memory, to kindle our interest and to showcase through music, sounds, songs, acts, chants, the values and elements which make the African nation a unique regional continent for the Black of the world.”

Ambassador Akinboboye disclosed “We believe that the mission of Motherland Beckons will not be completed without the a copious resuscitation of those elements, the ethos, the mores and ethics which are innate, biologically in–built and genetically definable in a typical African blood. It is an unassailable fact of life that African music, songs and vibes have remained the bedrock and pillars of the global entertainment. Thus, our gathering here tonight is to ignite the passion, stoke the embers and lubricate those values which distinguish the black race from others races of the world.”

He revealed that “AIM Festival is to call our attention to the fact that Africa is a tree with multi-faceted branches but with a common sign of communication which music and its twin brother songs, which are irresistible, harmless, instructive and a means by which Africa communicates to all the branches. This is the essence of our conglomeration today.”

“For the next three days, we shall be listening, learning ,receiving messages which will be  communicated  refreshingly through music and songs, a reminder of why Africa’s train of development is being truncated by the so-called super nations  which are afraid of its blossomless,” Akinboboye added.

He said “Motherland Beckons is using AIM as an energiser of continent building by employing music, the natural implement of communication which is unique to Africa to call all of those having the gene, the blood and sweat of Mother Africa in their body configuration to come together in unity of purpose and communal spirit of raising Africa greatness beyond the imagination of Africa detractors.”

Akiboboye said “And  we at Motherland Beckons are happy that our clarion call messages through AIM Festival has brought us here today, here at La Campagne, Beach Resort, Ibeju Lekki, an array of the best voices of music acts in Africa, from Cameroon to Ethiopia, from South –Africa to Mali, from Kenya to Nigeria. I urge you not only to listen to the soul lifting of the best of Africa who are going to showcase and parade African value, but not allow that to rub off or deprive you the message – Continent building via music and songs. It is our duty. Enjoy.”
