Court-recognised All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara state, led by Hon. Ishola Balogun-Fulani, has inaugurated a 45-man campaign council.

Speaking at the event on Friday in Ilorin, Balogun-Fulani called on the electorate to give massive support to APC’s governorship candidate, Hon. Kayode Abdulwahab as well as President Muhammad Buhari.

Balogun-Fulani, who said that the inauguration of the campaign council was in line with the recent decision of the Ilorin High Court, added that the court granted the 13 reliefs sought by the applicants in the matter.

He said that the sixth relief allowed his leadership to undertake activities and processes related to the election at all levels of government in the state.

The APC chairman said that the objective of the party is that all its candidates must win, calling on members of the campaign council to work assiduously for a successful outing in the elections.

The APC chairman, however, extended hands of fellowship to the aggrieved members of the party, asking them to return to the party’s mainstream.

While acknowledging the need for the party’s members and stalwarts to work together as a team, Balogun-Fulani said that the leadership of the party was open to dialogue.

“Our business today is to inaugurate our campaign council for our party. We are doing this with the authority we derived from the court judgment. As you are aware we have it specifically on the 13 reliefs we asked the court to give us and all were granted but it is relief six that has brought us here today.

“We read the relief because some people are saying we don’t have it. We appreciate our President Muhammadu Buhari who has given us the opportunity to go to curt to seek redress and he has said that as a man of honour anything that comes from the court he will obey. Also, our energised national chairman who has made similar commitments.

“Time is against us. We are not enemies of anybody, we are friends of all. So, we want everyone to come to our side so that our governor will win and our president will also win. We want to ask everyone to go back and work seriously so that we are able to deliver the state for our party. We are the only one who can do it”, he said.

Also speaking at the inauguration of APC ward canvassers ahead of 2019 general elections in Ilorin on Friday, Minister of Information and Culture Alhaji Lai Mohammed, who is the leader of APC in the state, said that an army of well-recruited, tested and trusted canvassers have been inaugurated to go from house to house in each of the 1,872 polling units to tell people why they must vote for President Muhammadu Buhari and all the candidates of APC right here in Kwara state in the 2019 general elections.

“Gathered here today are 1,872 canvassers representing the 18,720 canvassers. That is one canvasser per each polling unit across the 193 wards in Kwara State. We are also inaugurating today 193 ward co-ordinators, 193 ward secretaries, 193 ward women leaders and 193 ward youth leaders”, he said.

Also speaking, Director General Buhari/Osinbajo Campaign Organisation, Rotimi Amaechi yesterday revealed that the 2019 elections in Kwara and by extension Nigeria are between the rich and the poor.

“We are gathered here today to peacefully take over power from the rich and hand over to the poor. That is what APC stands for. We join the poor to say we must take power from the rich. We join the poor to say ‘enough is enough’.

“This election is between the rich and the poor. Now the poor have realized that they are tired. If at the end of former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s government we had $58 billion, where is the money now? How much did state governments collect? How much did the Federal Government collect? What did they do with the money?

“Big men are in all the parties o! The difference between other parties and ours is that the big men in our party are all progressives. Other parties don’t care, they want to even collect what the poors are eating from them.
