4,000 Farmers to benefit Ancho- borrowers scheme in Nasarawa ―Al-makura
By ABOUT four thousand (4,000) farmers in Nasarawa state are to benefit from the Federal Government Ancho-borrowers Programme.
The program which aimed at providing farm inputs; fertiliser, improved seeds, herbicides, and soft loans to Small Holder Farmers (SHFs), to ensure food security in the state.
Governor Tanko Al- makura of Nasarawa state, stated this in Kwandere Lafia while flagging off 2018 sell of fertiliser, said “we have also keyed into the Federal Government Ancho-borrowers’ Programme (ABP) intended to create a linkage between Ancho companies that involved in processing Agricultural communities.
“Government has identified 3000 farmers for rice production and 1000 farmers for sesame to benefit from the Ancho-borrowers’ scheme”.
The Governor further stated that in line with its administration strives of ensuring availability of food in the state, the government procured ten thousand (10,000) metric tones of fertiliser for distribution to farmers for early utilisation of the commodity to increased harvests.
According to him, the fertiliser which is to be sold at the subsidised rate of N4,000 per bag to the farmer, warning that “no individual or group should purchase the commodity in order to sell at exorbitant rates to the actual farmers.
“Government has devised strategies of apprehending anybody who indulges in this unwholesome act and shall be dealt decisively”, he added.
