Rehan Khan is wanted by police

POLICE have named the man they are hunting after a 32-year-old woman and an 11-month-old boy were stabbed in west London.

Officers want to speak to Rehan Khan, 25, who is known to frequent the Hounslow and Isleworth areas and has links to Newham, Slough, Hammersmith and Fulham.

He is wanted on suspicion of attempted murder and officers have warned members of the public not to approach him.

Police were called to Swinfield Close in Feltham at 7.12pm on Monday.

The Metropolitan Police said the boy remains in a critical condition, while the woman’s injuries are not life-threatening.

An air ambulance took the pair to a nearby hospital for treatment, while officers and police dog handlers scoured the crime scene.

One witness, June Heart, told Sky News: “I had just got home from work, and parked the car when I heard a lot of shouting. I can still hear the mum screaming for help, it was horrible. I haven’t heard anything like it.

“A few minutes later the street was full of police and ambulances, there was a specialist paramedic there too. I was told by a policeman with a gun to get in my house and stay there. Two helicopters were hovering above the street too.”

Another witness told Sky News: “I heard a lot of screaming and crying, it was quite distressing to hear. It’s a family, they’re new to the area, they’ve not long moved in.”

Leanne Gidlow, 33, who lives on the neighbouring Oriel estate, said of the family: “They were quiet and just kept themselves to themselves. I don’t think they had been living there too long.

“I just think how could anyone do this? When this sort of stuff happens on your doorstep – I just turned cold.

“Then you hear there is a baby involved and it seems to make it all worse somehow.”

The front door of the terraced house had been left open when police descended, with a large blood smear seen on a white wall at the entrance.

It was closed by an officer on Wednesday morning as it was attracting interest from passers-by on the school run.

Detectives believe “the parties involved were known to each other” and are trying to establish whether the suspect was staying at the house when the attack took place.
