We will pursue regional integration ― Makinde
By OYO State governor-elect, Engineer Seyi Makinde has assured that his government will pursue vigorously regional integration in order to develop the state across the south west regional territory economically, socially and politically, thus, providing opportunity for the residents of the state to reach the optimal level.
Makinde stated this on Tuesday when he played host to the delegation of Social Democratic Party (SDP) led by Chief Olu Falae, at his GRA, Ikolaba residence, Ibadan.
Other dignitaries of the party in company of Chief Falae include, Ondo state chairman of SDP, Honourable Korede Duyile, Remi Olayiwola, Honourable Banji Fajimi, Dr Ola Falade among others.
Makinde who thanked Chief Falae for his fatherly support during his political adventure said just as he was consulting him before his March 9 victory at the governorship election, he will continue to consult the political fountain God has endowed in the former Secretary to the Government of Federation.
He said “I thank you so much sir for your support, physically, morally and spiritually. People kept wondering why I consult Baba all the time, I will continue to tap from your wealth of knowledge and will not relent to consult you.

“I am for regional integration and I know that what we need to do is to restore the Yoruba race and Nigeria at large. We need to lift our state economically, socially as well as politically, this we will do as promised. We collaborated with the SDP gubernatorial candidate in Oyo state, Chief Bolaji Ayorinde, who actually stepped down for me. Baring this in mind, we are hoping to have a unity government in Oyo State.”
Chief Falae in his address declared that he today a happy man because Makinde who considers him as a political father has been elected as the governor of Oyo State.
“I am here today as a very happy for someone who consider me as a political father and I am proud to call him my son. I am happy for him; for myself and for Oyo State. Since the demise of Chief Obafemi Awolowo, we haven’t had any one who is set to reset a template for the Yoruba. We need to re-invent that template for total and actual development. I have no doubt that Makinde has been privileged as the governor-elect of Oyo State and to re-invent that template.
“And I also want to commend his courage and spirit of persistence and I’m not surprised that he succeeded. To succeed, you need God’s grace, focus and all other qualities, he has all these and Oyo State has given him the right to do so. God will guide you as you choose those who assist you to achieve your goals and God will give you the grace to be able to meet their needs.”
