Christians have been charged to return to the core assignment of their religion in proclaiming the gospel of Christ and evangelise without distractions or fear.

The call was made by the Akinyele Regional Superintendent of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Pastor M.O. Yusuf, at the inauguration of CAC Ilu-Iyanu Zone and induction service for the first zonal superintendent, Pastor Gabriel Abiye Ogundola, at Ogba, Lagos State.

In his sermon, Yusuf lamented that many Christians and churches had deviated from the basis of Christianity, just as he noted that it was essential that all Christians followed God’s mandate.

The cleric, who led the inauguration and inducted the first zonal superintendent, said that the deviation had made a lot of Christians lose focus, consistency and hindered to the growth of the church in the country.

He, however, urged Christians to realign to right principles and embrace righteousness.

“We must never forget the major reason of our existence on heart. As true Christians, we are obliged to serve God; to do His will and spread the gospel. This is also in tandem with the principle of the CAC. I want to appreciate the head of this zone for his commitment in ensuring the growth of the church from a unit to zonal level, which means it has spread its tentacle to many parts planting church and preaching the gospel from one community to another. Ogundola is replicating what the apostles did in Antioch. I pray God give him more strength to literate the world with the gospel of Christ.

“If we duly do the will of God by acting diligently to His will as well as cultivate the spirit of prayer and believe in the revelation and manifestation of God’s, our problem will be solved. It is a pity that 95 per cent of the prayer requests of Christians today is based on worldly things. In fact, the attitude of prayer and fasting has reduced drastically in the church today.

“Both constitute the power of Christianity, especially in CAC doctrine. We all need to go back to the root, especially the youths, because they have the strength to evangelise and grow the church,” he added.

In his remarks, the new zonal superintendent, Pastor Ogundola, expressed his gratitude to God and acknowledged the support of the entire zone of the church for the success of the 2-in-1 event.

He said: “I thank God for making this a reality and the grace to expand God’s work in my life time. I am fulfilled that I am able to do the will of God all my life, as well as leading by example. I urge every Christian to see the need to do that of God first and spread the gospel beyond there reach and every other thing will surely added.”

The zonal secretary of the church, Elder (Dr) Sunday Oke, also appreciated the support of the leadership of the church in moving the church toward, just as he noted that the entire zone is grateful for the recognition and elevation.
