A non-governmental organisation with concern for social welfare in Ogun state, Kakaaki Ijebu Voice, has appealed to the incoming government to improve on the current state of environment and cleanliness in the state.

The organisation, which comprises professionals from various fields of endeavours, addressed journalists in Ilorin on Monday, charging the governor-elect, Prince Dapo Abiodun, to rid the state of refuse dumps on major streets.

The group, which said refuse dumps should be things of the past, added that particular attention should be paid to Ogun East senatorial district of the state.

Its national coordinator, Mr Rotimi Oduyoye, flanked by the publicity secretary, Olu Olawemimo, among other members of the organisation, said it behoved on them to set agenda for the new administration in order to ensure that it meets needs and aspirations of the people.

It also urged the incoming administration to follow the legacy of the former first civilian governor of the state, Chief Bisi Onabanjo, in development of all divisions in the state and even surpass it.

“We also charged him to remember youth and women empowerment as a priority in his administration. The previous government failed because it takes Ogun state citizen for granted. Don’t take Ogun state citizen for granted”, he said.

The people also urged the governor-elect to pay the 30 months salary being owed both academic and non-academic staff of Tai Solarin College of Education on assumption of office to ensure good welfare of the workers, saying that he should ensure prompt payment of workers salaries henceforth.

“We use this forum to congratulate Ogun state governor-elect, Prince Dapo Abiodun, and deputy governor-elect, Mrs Noimot Salako–Oyedele.

“As a responsible professional, as much as we understand the herculean task ahead, we urge your administration to meet our expectations and surpass it”, he said.
