Alex Ikwechegh Celebrates Father’s Day With The Fatherless (Photos)

A renowned Nigerian business mogul cum philanthropist, Sir Alex Ikwechegh, today, June 16 marked the Father’s Day with fatherless babies in Abia State.

Igbere TV reports that Ikwechegh visited a motherless baby home in Aba South, Abia State, where he distributed free gifts to the children.

Speaking with Igbere TV in Umuahia, the renowned philanthropist revealed that he lost his parents at the age of 11, and within the space of three weeks.

He said having lost his parents at such a tender age, he knows how painful it is not to celebrate with ones parents at such an occasion.

Ikwechegh, who noted that children are gifts from God, said they all deserve to be shown love to and not to be maltreated.

His words, “Many people don’t know that I lost my parents at the age of 11 within the space of three weeks. Back then, whenever I see other children receiving gifts from their parents, I always feel neglected and dejected because I had no one to treat me the way my father would have treated me.

“I feel very devastated seeing some people neglecting or treating those that their parents are no longer alive badly. In life, everybody is important and should be treated equal because that is what God wants.

“That’s why, God in Psalm 127:3-5 says, ‘Behold, children are a gift of the LORD, The fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are the children of one’s youth. How blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them; They will not be ashamed When they speak with their enemies in the gate.’”

“God sees children as gifts which should be handled with special care. That’s why I’m here to celebrate the father’s day with these children.

“I want to make them a promise, and the promise is that I will always come here from time to time to be with all of you in occasions like this.

“And no one knows where the shoe pinches, but he who wears it. I will never neglect you children because I have been in your shoe”, he added.

Igbere TV recalls that during the last Easter Day celebration, the former Aba North Council Chairman, Ikwechegh similarly visited SDA Motherless Baby Home in Aba, Abia State.

Igbere TV had reported that Ikwechegh donated huge amount of money, bags of rice, cartons of Noddles, toilet tissues, soaps, and assorted goodies.
