Separate education from partisan politics

It should be noted that education in itself needs to be clearly separated from partisan politics in many manifolds if we want Nigeria to develop. Education is very good, if it is acquired and achieved in the right manner. Nigerians acquired education through an outdated method, which is detrimental to the development of our country at large.

However, politics should not be mingled with education, since it is the basis for development. Therefore, political activities should be eliminated from education so as to achieve its main purpose and objectives of developing human mind. Moreover, education gives light and exposes human being to know the differences between good and bad, and also discern light from darkness. Nigeria government at all level needs not play politics with education. If education is given it rightful place in the country without tampering it with wrong methods, it would achieve its objectives and purpose in humanity.

Therefore, politics is good but not to be mixed with education when matters that concern Nigerian child are discussed. Government lay claims to free education at both primary and secondary level in western states of Nigeria, but such free education is free and not quality and credible in manifold.

Moreover, anything free to mankind will not be appreciated and abuse will be the order of the day. More so, Nigeria government at both centre and state level should make emphasis on quality education and not free, poor and unproductive education to Nigeria child.

Furthermore, the state government in western Nigeria clamour for free education but when such policy is implemented it would not transform the schools into a better one but the shadow of itself. That is more building will not be built and much instructional materials will not be provided. This is as a result that the majority of students in public primary and secondary schools were not given chairs in their school but sit on stones.

All these malfunctions of our education system came into being as a result of playing politics with education in all levels of government in Nigeria, be it colleges of education, polytechnics or universities who produce illiterate graduates, that cannot read and write properly when they are told to do so. Nigerian tertiary institutions produce graduates that cannot defend their certificates after paying huge amount of money as school fees before graduating from higher institutions.

If the Nigerian government looks inward on the state of education in the country and separate it from partisan politics, it would serve the purpose it should in the life of every Nigerian child.
