Its nine months before the 2019 elections in Nigeria and most of the Federal ministers are solidly behind President Muhammadu Buhari’s bid to seek re-election.

Some justified the President’s re-election bid during the 2018 World Congress of the International Press Institute (IPI) held on Thursday, in Abuja.

In reaction to the question on why Nigerians should re-elect President Buhari, in the 2019 elections, the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed said the Buhari-led administration has delivered on all its campaign promises while the Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau says Nigeria cannot get anyone better than Buhari.

Nigeria is on the path to sustainable growth and recovery. We’ve never had it so good in terms of our potential to grow and to really show what Nigeria can do as a diversified economy – Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun

Because we’ve delivered on all our promises. We promised Nigerians we are going to fight insecurity, we fought insecurity. We promised Nigerians we are going to revive the economy, we have revived the economy. We promised we are going to fight corruption, corruption today is a taboo in Nigeria,” Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed.

“Under the leadership of the President, we have changed the conversation in Nigeria. We are now talking about the importance of security, of fighting corruption and of a good economy rather that saying corruption is not a problem it is not stealing,”  Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Okechukwu Enelamah.

Continuity, Nigeria can’t get anybody better than President Buhari – Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau.

President Buhari earlier at the event spoke on the success recorded by his administration in tackling insecurity. He stressed that the terrorist group, Boko Haram, has been degraded and is no longer in control of any part of Nigeria.

Speaking on the theme ‘Why Good Journalism Matters,’ Buhari noted that good journalism is critical to the development and growth of societies and is needed to combat the challenges posed by fake news.

He also praised the IPI for giving Nigeria the hosting rights for its world congress for 2018, saying it made the right choice.

“It is our pride that your vision of professional journalism, training institutions in Nigeria has taken firm root,” Buhari said.
