2019 Election: Monarch read riot act to cultists, thugs in Bayelsa

Bayelsa 1AHEAD of the forthcoming 2019 general elections across the country, the King of Odi Community in Bayelsa State, HRH. Shine Apre said he has declared war against cultists and criminals operating in the state.

He also expressed his willingness to work hand in hand with security agencies in the state to permanently wipe out cultism and thuggery in Odi community in particular and Bayelsa State in general.

King Apre said the community has suffered enough hardship in the hands of cultists and thugs, adding that the community is ready to collaborate with government to solve the issues of youth restiveness and cult-related killings.

King Apre made this declaration yesterday in Odi during the signing of a six-point resolution banning all cult members from Odi and to hand over such persons to the anti-cult unit of the Nigeria Police Force with immediate effect.

Also signing the resolution, the chairman, Bayelsa State Volunteers, a government special security outfit, Hon. Asanakpo Lucky condemned the increasing rate of cult-related clashes and cult killings in the State.

The chairman assured that the governor of Bayelsa state, Hon. Seriake Dickson is concerned about the unnecessary cult activities involving Bayelsa youths especially as the nation prepares for her general election in 2019.

Hon. Asanakpo said that the Volunteers in collaboration with other security agencies have set in motion a mechanism to apprehend any individual or group of persons engaging in cult activities in the state.

The resolution was also signed by the community development committee chairman, Nweigha Goddy and the Odi community youth president, Siakeme Matthew Pereowei and the youth secretary,

It will be recalled that Odi community over the weekend lost three youths and several other persons were injured as a result of the cult clash between the Greenlanders and Icelanders confraternities.
