PDPTHE Senator representing Kaduna North District, Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi apologised to members and stakeholders of the Kaduna State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for dumping the party in 2015.

Addressing party men and women at the secretariat of the party at Unguwar Kanawa, Hunkuyi, who defected alongside with 13 other senators on the floor of the Senate from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to PDP on Wednesday, vowed to dislodge the Nasir el-Rufai led government in the State, come 2019.

He also apologised for dumping the PDP during the build-up to the 2015 general election as well as for selling the El-Rufai to the electorate that produced the current APC government in the state.

According to Hunkuyi, he and his political associates in the r-APC were at the secretariat to interface with the party’s stakeholders in the State on how to crush the APC government in 2019.

In response, the state chairman of the PDP and former Aviation Minister, Felix Hyet while welcoming the Senator and his associates, assured them of equal rights in the party.

Hyet recalled how himself and the Senator worked assiduously in 1998 to build the party in all the 23 local government areas of the state.

Though the former minister chided the senator for helping the APC to power in 2015, he told Hunkuyi that his sins had been forgiven.

“You and your supporters are welcome back to our party. We can assure you that you possess equal rights as other members of the party.

“We are happy that you have realized your mistake and retrace your steps. With you and your supporters, sorry for APC in 2019,” Hyet said.

Meanwhile, a chieftain of PDP in the State, Dr Muhammad Sani Bello, the Mainan Zazzau, has declared for the gubernatorial race of the State.

Declaring his intention, before the State Executive of the PDP, Dr Bello said, “I hereby declare my intention to seek the gubernatorial ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party for the 2019 general elections”

This was even as he unfolded a 5-point agenda if elected into office, which includes, “To be the people’s servant, leading a people-centred administration transparently run on the rule of law and fully accountable to the public.

“Rescue our dear State from the vagaries of pervasive mal-administration and restore public trust and confidence in government.

“Restore peaceful coexistence and provide adequate safety and effective security of lives and property.

“Prioritize economic growth and development for all; where everyone has equal access to jobs, regardless of s3x, gender, religion, age or physical conditions.

“Pursue increased community cohesion and civic identity through societal re-orientation programmes and representative participation in social, political and cultural spheres”.

The Mainan Zazzau said his desire to become the next governor the State is premised on the fact he would deliver good governance to the people.

He said he has the credibility to defeat the incumbent and win the election for the PDP.

“He said, “If given the opportunity to represent our party in the 2019 gubernatorial elections, I am confident that we will win the general elections by the grace of God.

“Subsequently, we will be able to deliver on our mission that encompasses good governance, improved rural and urban living, productivity, mobility and connectivity through the provision of adequate physical and social infrastructure to the people of Kaduna State.

“This is why I want to be the next governor of Kaduna”.
