ProjectGOVERNOR Tanko Al-makura of Nasarawa state has on Monday, commissioned small town water project worth three hundred and thirty-nine million, six hundred and twelve thousand, three hundred and thirty-three Naira, twelve kobo (N339,612,333.12) in Wamba local government of Nasarawa

state.

The Governor disclosed this at the official commissioning of the Scheme in Wamba, describing it as a pilot scheme that will be replicated in other Local Government Areas of the State for cost-effectiveness.

He further said that the project is designed with modern facilities to supply one hundred thousands gallons of potable water to the residents of the state.

Expressing that government has strategically resolved to address the water problem in Wamba, after conceiving the idea of constructing a water supply project that will use solar energy to power the engines, reason for such initiative was to move away from the conventional water schemes that use electric power supply eater with attendant setbacks occasioned by power outage and bad maintenance culture.

“The project was contracted to Messr Brosino Investment Limited at the cost of Three Hundred and Thirty-nine Million, Six Hundred and Twelve Thousand, Three Hundred and Thirty-Three Naira, Twelve kobo (N339,612,333.12) only.

“The project was designed with modern facilities to supply one hundred thousand gallons of potable water per day. It is my belief that with the siting of this scheme, our people in Wamba would heave a sigh of relief from an acute shortage of potable water supply.

“It is my expectation that you will judiciously utilize this facility to serve the purpose for which it was constructed. It is also your duty to assist Government in safeguarding the edifice from vandalism and theft. In doing so, you will be seen to be contributing your part in our collective effort to enhance the living standard of our people,” he reemphasized

Al-makura equally stated people of the state that Government will continue to provide the basic necessities for the citizens particularly those in the rural areas, assuring that his administration will not relent in its commitment towards ensuring that all nooks and crannies of the State are accessible to social amenities before the end of his tenure.

The Governor, also pointed; “apart from this water scheme in Wamba, this Administration has also overhauled the entire water supply system aimed at addressing the scarcity of water supply across the State.

“In this regard, Government embarked on the rehabilitation of Mada Waterworks, Akwanga which distributes not less than ten million gallons of water per day; construction of Nasarawa Regional Waterworks with an average supply of three million gallons of water per day which is nearing completion; construction of Daddere Water Scheme, as well as the construction of Nassarawa Eggon Water Scheme which was commissioned few years ago. Let me assure you that this Administration will continue to execute projects that have a direct bearing on the lives of our people.”
