Woman , bus conductor killed in separate auto accidents in Ogun

A woman, who was returning from a church vigil and a bus conductor, lost their lives in early morning accidents in Owode area of Ogun State, on Saturday.

Sunday Tribune learnt that the woman was crushed by a DAF truck coming from Lagos State.

It was further learnt that the white truck, with no registration number, had a break failure and lost control.

In the other accident, which happened around 5:45 a.m, five vehicles were involved in multiple accidents, when an Iveco truck with registration number XB190MLF, also suffered a break failure before ramming into other vehicles.

Sunday Tribune gathered that the truck was headed towards Lagos when the accident occurred.

A bus conductor, who was by the side of his bus calling for passengers lost his life in the accident.

Other vehicles involved in the accident include a yellow Volkswagen bus with registration number GGE44XL, a Volkswagen car with registration number KTU599XR, a mack truck with registration number GGE80XL and a Mazda bus with registration number KSF677XD.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the incidents to Sunday Tribune.

Mr Akinbiyi said drivers of the two trucks had been arrested and handed over to the police at the Police Area Command Office in Ota, while the bodies of the victims had been deposited at the General Hospital, Ota mortuary.

The PRO further said that the vehicles involved in the accidents had been taken to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) office in Ota.

He, therefore, charged vehicle owners on the need to maintain their vehicles at all times in order to prevent unnecessary loss of lives.
