Third Mainland Bridge reopens

After undergoing investigative maintenance test, Lagos State Government has announced the re-opening of the Third Mainland Bridge which was temporarily closed for three days. The bridge was opened at 5 p.m this evening, several hours earlier than initially announced.
The Lagos State government issued a statement on Sunday that said the decision to reopen the bridge earlier than announced followed the completion of the test by engineers.
“We thank motorists and residents for the cooperation and patience while the closure of the Third Mainland Bridge lasted,” Lagos state government said on its official twitter handle.
Lagos state in partnership with the Federal government temporarily shut the bridge midnight August 23. It was to be re-opened midnight of August 26.
