KwaraTHE North Central Zone of the youth body in Nigeria, the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has expressed satisfaction with the Kwara APC gubernatorial primary elections.

The National Vice President NYCN, Amb Mukhtar Akoshile, made this known through a statement issued on Monday.

The Vice-President said that the entire process of the gubernatorial primary election was peaceful, orderly and rancour-free, noting that members were duly accredited.

“Having independently and neutrally monitored the primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, we hereby state that the entire process was largely peaceful, orderly and devoid of rancour.

“That members, who were duly accredited, voted in a direct primary that was free, fair and without inducement or intimidation. That there were no incidences of thuggery by the youth who trooped out in their numbers to vote for their candidates.

“That the votes were duly counted and collated, in the presence of all present at the venue. That Alh Abdurahman Abdulrazak was duly declared winner having polled the most votes.”

Amb. Mukhtar commended his colleagues for changing the usual perception of youth participation in politics by staying away from violence.

“We commend our colleagues, the youth of Kwara APC, for changing the narrative about youth participation in politics, by shunning acts of violence and refusing to make themselves tools in the hands of vested interests.

He stated that what the State of harmony needs now is an opposition with a united front that is prepared to take on the challenge of defeating the incumbent, not a house that is divided against itself.

“If anybody has genuine grounds for dissatisfaction with the whole process, they would have been better served in exploring the parry mechanisms for resolving such and quickly close ranks to give the party a fighting chance in the general elections.

Akoshile congratulated the legitimate winner, saying: “as reflected in the votes of the members of Kwara APC, Alh Abdurahman Abdulrazak and urge him to reach out to genuine members of the party to present a united house to the people of Kwara during the general elections.”
