Speaker Dogara mourns late Funke Adedoyin

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara has condoled with the people and government of Kwara state over the demise of honourable Funke Adedoyin.
Adedoyin who died at the age of 54, was once a Minister of State for Health under President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration and the Deputy Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Army until her death.
Her death which occurred on Friday afternoon reportedly resulted from cancer complications which she has been battling with since 2016.
She was said to have been cured of the disease but suffered a relapse three months ago which led to her travelling to the United States.
She had since returned to the country and recuperating in Abuja until the incident occurred today.
In a condolence message, Dogara described the late Adedoyin as a vibrant lawmaker whose death came as a shock.
“News of the death of Hon. Princess Funke Adedoyin came as a great shock. She was a vibrant lawmaker and dedicated public servant”, the Speaker said.
He prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased, and for God to comfort those she left behind.
“We in the House of Representatives pray that God grants her family, constituents and the people and government of Kwara state the fortitude to bear the loss.”
Up until her death, Adedoyin – who once served as minister of state for health – represented Irepodun Isin/Ekiti/Oke Ero Federal Constituency of Kwara State.
