Buhari Receives Support Group, Calls For Increased Voter Education
President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday called for increased voter education across the country as Nigeria prepares for the forthcoming general election.
With less than 211 days to the polls, the President believes the awareness would encourage the citizens to appreciate the importance of obtaining their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVC).
The President said this when he received members of the Buhari Support Group Centre who visited him at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
He thanked the group for its support and sacrifice over the years and pledged to continue to work towards consolidating on the achievements of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Buhari Support Group Centre is a coalition of smaller allied groups set up in 2014.
President Buhari hosted the group one day after he met with the new executive members of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) led by the NMA President, Dr Francis Adedayo.
He had asked the medical doctors to avoid going on strike but consider other means of negotiation for better working conditions.
The President had also urged them to always see their profession as a divine call, especially in taking decisions that directly impact on the lives of Nigerians.
He had told his guests that the government was considering an upward review of budgetary allocation to the health sector, in order to improve the quality and access to medical facilities across the country.
