Saraki Meets With PDP Members In Kwara, Calls For Unity
Senate President Bukola Saraki, on Wednesday, held a meeting with members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State.
Senator Saraki who addressed the party supporters at an event in Ilorin, the state capital, asked them to work together for the progress of the PDP.
Following the defection of new members, Saraki assured the supporters that there would be no discrimination against old and new party members.
The Senate President said his return to the PDP was meant to bring justice and equity for all, as well as the needed progress in the state.
He also stated that he has no anointed candidate for any political post, stressing that the people would determine their representatives.
The lawmaker called on public office holders in the state and across the country to work together for the interest of the citizens and not for personal gains.
Saraki defected to the PDP from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in July citing allegations of disunity as some of his reasons for dumping the ruling party.
His defection has generated reactions from APC leaders, including the party’s National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, who called for his resignation as Senate President.
The latest reaction is a statement issued by APC national leader, Bola Tinubu, on Sunday in which he accused the lawmaker of coveting the Presidency.
