The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, has given his royal blessings to the aspiration of Senator Iyiola Omisore to become the next Osun State governor, as the Social Democratic Party (SDP), staged the grand finale of its campaign at Enuwa Square, Ile-Ife, on Thursday.

Omisore arriving his hometown, in pomp and pageantry, Thursday afternoon, was welcomed into Ile-Ife, the cradle of Yoruba race, by a mammoth crowd, who rolled out drums to usher him into Ooni’s palace, as the monarch in company of his subjects warmly received his son home.
Oba Ogunwusi, welcoming Omisore to his palace, commended him for his interest in the development of Ile-Ife as the “son of the soil” and Osun State in general, while he also lauded Omisore’s aspiration to govern Osun State as a good way to actualise his dream to further develop the state.
The monarch said, “It is God that enthrones. When He assigns anyone to a particular position no one can stop him. Also, we must realise that the voice of man is the voice of God, when we unanimously agree with His plan to support anyone aspiring to actualise his dream, such will be accomplished.
It is in view of this I implore you to support Omisore in actualising his dream of becoming the state governor.
“I am proud of everyone here in attendance, and seeing the mammoth crowd that gathered here today, I am highly elated. You have all proven it to me again that the people can be more suiting as a cover for one more than clothes. Omisore is our son, and I know you will give him the needed support, and knowing that the voice of man is the voice of God, I pray may God grant our prayers for Omisore to become the governor of Osun State, and so shall it be,” Oba Ogunwusi said.
Omisore, who in company of his running mate, Alhaji Azeez Yemi Lawal, a national leader of SDP, Dr Yemi Farounbi, former Police Affairs Minister, Alhaji Jelili Adesiyan, and a host of other SDP leaders, showed his gratitude to Oba Ogunwusi for his warm reception and his fatherly role, as he expressed his willingness to be a good ambassador of the people in government.
At the rally signalling his end of the campaign for the September 22 election, Omisore admonished the people not to allow “foreigners” to again hijack the government by voting for the right candidate and ensure they monitor their votes so it could count, while also calling them to ensure they resist rigging in their various localities.
“It has come to our notice that the opposition parties have perfected plans to right the coming election, but we are waiting for how this will be done because we have instructed our people to resist them. You all are to be vigilant and be on guard in your various localities, resist the vote riggers and when you see them, make sure you send them out of the polling centres as enemies of democracy,” Omisore told his supporters.
At the rally, the support for Omisore to accualising his dream was further boosted by defectors from the opposition parties who teamed up with SDP, prominent among whom are members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the West African Coast, whose leader said the party had mobilised its members to support Omisore’s ambition of becoming Osun State governor.
