ICAN members seek redress in court

Some members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) have sued the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) over the decision of the Service to exclude Chartered Accountants who are not licensed by CITN from tax practice effective from January 2nd, 2019.

The suit was instituted by some 5 plaintiffs for themselves and on behalf of Licensed and Concerned members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria at the Federal High Court, Lagos Division with Suit Number FHC/L/CS/1480/2018.
The case was instituted to safeguard the rights of ICAN members in practice.
