Bauchi APC primaries: Pate alleges electoral fraud

ONE of the gubernatorial aspirants of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Bauchi state, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate has alleged that the conduct of the party’s primaries in the state is marred by electoral malpractices, manipulation and outright falsehood.

Addressing Journalists at the NUJ press centre on Sunday, Ali Pate alleged that as the time he spoke to the press (3 pm), the exercise had not commenced as the national officials according to him were still preparing on how to go about the conduct of the exercise.

The aspirant dismissed what he described as fake results been circulated in the social media saying that it was the handiwork of the state government just as he assured that, “very much soon the real exercise will be conducted and the real winner will emerge”.

While responding to a question of what he and his supporters will do if at the end of the day the incumbent Governor, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar was declared winner of the primaries, Ali Pate said, “let us wait and see the situation. One cannot be the judge over his own case”.

He then called on his teeming supporters to remain law-abiding citizens and shun any act of violence that may lead to breaking down of law and order in the state.

Meanwhile, checks in some of the wards in Bauchi metropolis where the primaries was to be conducted, it was tension all over as the voters were seen waiting for how the exercise was to be conducted as at the time of this report.

In his reaction to the conduct of the exercise, one of the aides of the Governor, Comrade Sabo Mohammed said that there was massive turnout of card-carrying members of the APC who were eager to cast their votes in support of the Governor a claim that was rebuffed by supporters of other aspirants who alleged that the exercise was marred by irregularities.
