Nsima Ekere emerges APC governorship candidate in A/Ibom

The Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Nsima Ekere has been elected as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Akwa Ibom State.

This was announced by the Chairman of the electoral panel, Yammah Momoh at the party secretariat in Uyo.

According to Momoh, Nsima polled 160,458 votes out of 167,904 votes cast in the 30 local government areas in the state since Uyo primary election was cancelled due to irregularities adding that 8 votes were invalid.

He said other contestants such as Dan Abia scored 4,189, James John Udoedeghe polled 2,015 votes while Edet Effretuei scored 1,234.

“Obong Nsima Ekere having scored the highest total number of votes is declared the winner,

Whoever that is aggrieved over the result should approach the APC appeal committee within 78 hours of the announcement,’’ Momoh said.

Responding, Ekere thanked members who voted him in the primary election saying that he dedicated his victory to the 329 wards in the state.

He called on other contestants and the party members to join hands with him for the party to win the 2019 governorship election in the state.

“I dedicate this victory to all the 329 wards in the state. APC is the winner. Among the contestants, there is no victor and no vanquished. Our aim as a party is to win Akwa Ibom State and we must work together, conspire together to move the party ahead,” he said.

Ekere has been a regular contestant of the governorship election since 2007.
