Baba Sala’s burial begins with music concert Nov 29
By The burial programmes for the ace comedian, Moses Olaiya Adejumo (aka Baba Sala), has been announced with a mega tribute concert to celebrate the veteran entertainer taking place on November 29, at he popular Blue Roof, LTV 8 Ground in Ikeja, Lagos.
Daughter of the deceased, Dr Oyindamola Adejumo-Ayibiowu at a press conference in Lagos, noted that the concert was aimed at extolling the essence of the dramatist and pioneer of comedy in Nigeria as his funeral rites beckons.
The press briefing was attended by the Juju maestro, Sunday Adeniyi Adegeye (aka King Sunny Ade); President of Association of Juju Musician (AJUM), Queen Ayo Balogun; Admiral Dele Abiodun and Olanrewaju Adejumo (aka) Baba Sala Jnr.
Speaking at the event, Sunny Ade, who is the chief hosts of the event, said: “Baba Sala Tribute Concert is a celebration of my father who gave me the platform to become who I am today. I got my first instrument through someone Baba Sala introduced to me.”
KSA, who is the chairman burial committee, reeled off the programmes of the funeral rites, saying, “The Mega Tribute Concert will hold on November 29 at LTV 8 Ground. Before then, a symposium on Baba Sala will hold on November 28. Lying-in-state holds at National Arts on December 3.
“His body will be taken to Ibadan Cultural Centre on December 4. Osogbo, the capital city of Osun State will host the body. The Service of Songs is at Idasa, Ilesha on December 5, after which the wake, as well as an Artistes Night, organised by the Osun music industry will take place. The final burial ceremony will hold on December 7.”
