APCAn aggrieved All Progressives Congress(APC) Senatorial aspirant in Ekiti State, Dr Olusegun Osinkolu, has clarified that he would continue to press for justice in the party in spite of the peace committee set up by the National Chairman, Com. Adams Oshiomhole to resolve crisis emanating from the last primary.
Osinkolu, who contested against the adopted candidate in Ekiti North
senatorial district, Senator Olubunmi Adetumbi, said  he was ready to cooperate with the peace committee led by Borno State Governor, Alhaji Kashim Shettima  to resolve the logjam, insisting that this won’t make him abandon the interest of his supporters on the issue.
Osinkolu lauded the internal peace  initiated by Governor Kayode Fayemi, restating that he would continue to exhibit loyalty to the party to be able to win the next general elections in Ekiti and across Nigeria.
In a statement in Ado Ekiti on Thursday, Osinkolu clarified that the recent meeting he held with Governor Fayemi was part of the fence-mending mission to end the crisis, saying this shouldn’t be misinterpreted to mean that he had abandoned his loyalists.
The APC chieftain described the last primary leading to emergence of Senator Adetumbi as a sham that needed to be addressed by the national leadership of the party.
Osinkolu added that it is only a self-centred and callous leader that would trade off his supporters midway while pursuing justice and equity on any political issue.
He added that it would be a great disservice to APC and Ekiti in general for him back out of the struggle to entrench internal democracy in the party at this time.
The APC chieftain stated that it  was unfair for people to twist the kernel objective of his meeting with Fayemi and concluded without fair hearing that such action was a total compromise of his stand that no election was held in the five local governments of the district in the last primary.
“I want to agree that I held a peace meeting with Governor Fayemi recently where all issues bordering on the shoddy way the primary was handled were discussed. But let me state here that no compromised was reached at the meeting. I did not concede anything contrary to insinuations.
“I am a loyal party man and high ranking member of APC in Ekiti with high stake in the affairs of our party and I have to embrace whatever action taken to resolve the crisis in order to put APC in good stead ahead of 2019.
“My meeting with our leader, Governor Fayemi was part of the process targeted at hearing my views and demands, so that the party can do the needful. I can’t be distancing myself from mediators when I was one of those who felt aggrieved in the primary”
Osinkolu commended the peace initiative of Oshiomhole-led National Working Committee, saying facts will be laid bare anytime they visit Ekiti.
“Former Edo State Governor promised credible primary but those he sent to Ekiti messed up the whole process. The mediating teams were set up purposely because of those that picked holes in the ways the primaries were conducted across states and not for those who already clichéd the tickets.
“I want to say expressly that I am ready to embrace the peace initiative but I will never trade off my supporters since I have already espoused points I am ready to present to fasttrack peace and I have no reason to renege on my earlier stand since those demands have not be met”, Osinkolu stated.
