Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Mr Adebayo Adelabu, on Tuesday, declared that he stands out among his other contestants, baring his antecedents, work experience, academic background, risk-taking abilities, family background and true desire to better the lot of the people of the state.

Calling on residents of the state to carry out a thorough examination of the candidates, Adelabu said he was one governorship candidate who had not have to move from one party to the other, was not full of misgivings and grievances and had no issues plaguing his candidacy or personality.

This is as he added that his leaving the lucrative position of deputy governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to join politics, was evidence of his desire to serve the people and develop the state rather than amass money or acquire wealth.

Adelabu who made these statements during a meeting with oil and gas stakeholders in the state held at Premier Hotel, Ibadan, on Tuesday, added that he was the only candidate who offered a breath of fresh air desired by people of the state.

Adelabu who averred that the administration of Governor Abiola Ajimobi had recorded “unprecedented transformations” in the history of the state said his agenda if elected would be to consolidate on security, industrial transformation through agriculture, housing, education and health.

The event saw the Adelabu’s gubernatorial bid get the nod of oil and gas stakeholders in the state such as the Petrol Tanker Drivers and Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, as well as Jericho Businessmen club.

National chairman of Petroleum Tanker Drivers (PTD) unit of NUPENG, Otunba Salmon Akaani Oladiti said oil and gas stakeholders resolved to support Adelabu in recognition of the need for continuity of the good developments recorded by the Ajimobi led administration for over seven and a half years.

Upon his emergence as governor, Oladiti especially urged Adelabu to be a serving leader with masses-oriented programmes and not an overbearing leader.

He advised Adelabu to make Agriculture the base of his development plans.

However, Oladiti urged Adelabu to see to the federal government revitalizing and optimizing the Ikere Gorge Dam project.

Also speaking, Chairman, IPMAN, Ibadan, Mr Rasaq Taiwo, particularly urged Adelabu to ensure that oil marketers are allowed to make their input in the formulation of policies affecting them.

Taiwo noted that such involvement will ensure better compliance by oil and gas stakeholders to the payment of dues and other revenues.

In his own remarks, Mr Remi Babalola of Jericho Businessmen club maintained that Adelabu was a good product for the state has proven himself in his empowerment programmes, scholarship, the establishment of industries over the years.
