DSS withdraws security details attached to Saraki, Dogara, Ekweremadu, Lasun

Facts emerged on Sunday that the security operatives from the Department of State Security (DSS) attached to the four principal officers of both chambers of the National Assembly have been reduced.
As at the time of filing this report, no reason was adduced to the recall of some of the operatives.
BusinessDay reliably gathered that DSS operatives attached to Senate President, Bukola Saraki and Yakubu Dogara, Speaker House of Representatives, were reduced by half.
Similarly, those security details attached to Ike Ekweremadu, Deputy Senate President and Yussuff Lasun, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives were also trimmed.
However, no information was provided on the security aides attached to the spouses of all the four principal officers.
It was however uncertain whether the security details deployed by the police were affected.
When contacted, Abdulrasak Namdas, Chairman, House Committee on Media and Publicity, promised to confirm the report.
Recall that Idris Ahmed, Inspector General of Police had penultimate month rolled out plans to reduce its personnel attached to unnamed VIPs.
The Senate had initiated investigation into the allegation leveled against the police authorities over the estimated sum of N120 billion allegedly generated monthly from police personnel deployed to corporate organisations and very important personalities (VIPs).
