There was low turn out of voters in Osun on Saturday as eligible voters filed out at various polling units across the state to elect lawmakers during the election into State House of Assembly.
Monitoring the election in the communities of Osun Central, Osun East and Osun West senatorial districts, Tribune Online observed that there was seeming voters’ apathy as the population of people who exercised their franchise was low compared to February 23 Presidential and National Assembly elections.
At Ward 9, Unit 2, Oloki-Akoda village, in Ede South local government, the turnout of voters was not impressive as at 10:30 am when Tribune Online visited the area.
The same situation played out in Unit 3 Ward, NUD, Sango Ikire, where only one security operative was spotted. But, there was massive turnout of voters at  Akarabata  Unit 1A, Ward 10 in Lagere area of Ile-Ife.

Speaking to Tribune Online, the Presiding Officer (PO) of Unit 1A, Ward 10, Mr Ogunsakin Stephen, said there was no hitch, adding that the smart card readers were working perfectly well

However, at Ward 3, Unit 10, Ataoja ‘C’,  in Osogbo, there was  also low turn out  of voters  as of 8:45 am, while the situation was similar in Unit 13, Ward 4, Fagbewesa also in Osogbo as fewer voters  were sighted on queue about 9:00 am.

Beside, at, Unit 3, Ward 1, in Obokun local government area, the turnout of voters was not also impressive, just as the same scenario was observed at
Unit 3, Ward 3 in Ila-Ilahun-Ikinyiwa, which is within the precinct of the same local government.
But, Osun State governor, Mr Gboyega Oyetola after casting his vote around 10:30 am at Olopo polling unit 01, Ward 01 in Iragbiji contended that it was too early to adjudge the turnout of voters  as low, just as he expressed confidence that the APC will get absolute majority in the House of Assembly after the exercise.
He added that available information at his disposal indicated the election had been peaceful across the state.
Commenting on the exercise, the state chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon Soji Adagunodo lamented that  the turnout of voters was not impressive compared to the last presidential and National Assembly.
Adagunodo, who spoke with journalists in his home town in Ilowa in Obstate local government area said “the voters’ aparty might due to the fact that there was no governorship election in the state. The turnout of voters is very low. Although it is normal since there is no governorship election in the state. But all the same , the turnout of voters is still reasonable.”
The deputy national publicity secretary of the PDP, Mr Diran Odeyemi, also described the turnout of voters as not impressive.
Odeyemi , who spoke during an interactive session with journalists  at his Unit 2, Ward  1 in Ibokun town said low turnout might be due to the fact there was no governorship election in the state, but added that the party was sure of victory at the end of the election.
