Makinde attends Jumat service in Ibadan, says he’s working on smooth take over

Oyo State governor-elect, Engineer Seyi Makinde, on Friday, attended Jumat service at Ibadan Central Mosque, Oja’ba, Ibadan, to express his appreciation to the Islamic clerics and Muslim faithful in Ibadan, where he assured them that he has already started working in preparation for the eventual takeover on May 29, 2019.

Makinde who came in company with Are Musulumi of Yorubaland and Delta, Daood Makanjuola   got to the over three and half decades worship center at exactly 1:38pm with his deputy, Rauf Olaniyan, PDP state Chairman, Alhaji Kunmi Mustapha, Senator Hosea Agboola, Chief Nureni Akanbi, Alhaja Bose Adedibu, Dr Nureni Adeniran, among others.

While speaking after the sermon by the Chief of Imam of Ibadanland, Sheikh Abdulganiy Agbotomokekere, who also led in the Jumat prayer session, Makinde thanked the worshippers for voting him in as their governor. He assured them that he will not be discriminative on assumption of office come May 29.

He said “I have come to express my appreciation  for your support. I came here some weeks ago to seek your votes, today, your votes made me the governor-elect. I am here to say thank you so much.

“I want to assure you that you will not regret voting me as your governor. We’ll extend our work to all the people without discrimination on party basis.

“Also, let me assure you that our administration will maintain religious balance because only that can enable peace in the state. And to tell you that we are prepared for the task, we have started work on what we want to do already, by May 29 when we will be sworn in, it will be easy for us to continue.”

Earlier in his message, the Chief Imam, Sheikh Agbotomokekere who commended Makinde for his ‘Thank You Visit’ further charged the governor-elect to be thankful to Allah who answered his prayers to fulfill his ambition.

Also, Are Musulumi while receiving Makinde in his house admonished him to continue doing what endeared him to the people of the state which was reflected in his victory that broke all barriers.
