AAUA orientates 4,800 fresh students

The Dean of Students Affairs, Ondo State University, Dr Olusegun Owolewa has urged the newly admitted students of the university to be good ambassadors of the university, just as the university completed the admission process for the 2018/2019 Academic session.

Owolewa while delivering his speech at the Orientation program organised for the new students, which took place between March 12th to 15th, 2019, at the Olusegun Obasanjo Multipurpose Hall admonished the student to know the value of the admission given to them by the University.

Dr Owolewa said: “20,000 candidates subscribed to the University in the 2018/2019 admission exercise while only 4,800 were offered admission.”

The Dean further advised the new students to remain focus and ensure that they justify the admission given to them.

“You are therefore enjoined to remain focused, aim for high grades and justify your admission,” he said.

He also added that the Students Affairs Unit will organise seminars,  workshops that are aimed at enhancing the ability and functionality of the students.

“In order to enhance the case of being a student and to internationalise our University, the Students Affairs Division in conjunction with the Information Communication and Technology Application Center(ICTAC) has automated and improved the most student-related operations.

“We have introduced e-voting platform for election,  e-clearance for graduating students and online hostel registration.

Also present at the Orientation program was the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Olugbenga Ige, who also urged the newly admitted students to adapt to the core values of the institution.

In his own speech, Prof Ige enjoined the students to; “be good ambassadors of the University and to always follow values in all their endeavours.

“Be diligent and willing to exchange courtesy among people. If you do this, your name will be written on the good side of the institution”.

Highlights of the program include presentations by various groups on campus and speech delivery by other speakers.

Principal officers of the University present include the Registrar, Dr M. S.  Ayeerun, Dean of Education Faculty, Prof. Iyabo Omoniyi, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics),  Prof.  Francis Gbore, Dean of Faculty of Social and Management Sciences, Prof.  Solar Olorunfemi among others.
