Security guard in court for stealing 36 pieces of polo T-shirts,

A  22-year-old security guard, Jacob Moses, on Thursday appeared in a Zuba Upper Area Court, Abuja,  for allegedly stealing 36 pieces of polo T-shirts and six pairs of jeans trousers, from a boutique

Moses,  a security guard at Selly Kouture Boutique, is charged with joint act, shop breaking and theft.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Prosecutor, Mr Chindo Umar, told the court that one Salamatu Dhmel, who lives on No 78, 1st Avenue, Gwarinpa Estate, Abuja, reported the matter at the Gwarinpa Police Station on April 1.

Umar alleged that the defendant and one Alex Gospel, now at large, criminally broke into the complainant’s shop without her consent.

The prosecutor alleged that Moses stole the complainant’s 36 pieces of polo T-shirts and six pieces of jeans trousers, all valued at N168, 000.

Umar said that during police investigation, he could not give a satisfactory account of the stolen items.

He said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 79, 358 and 288 of the Penal Code.

The Senior Judge, Gambo Garba, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100, 000 with one surety in like sum.

The judge ordered that the surety must reside within the jurisdiction of the court.

He adjourned the case until May 20 for hearing.
