Yesterday the 10th of November 2017, the Abia state Governor Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu hosted the online media practitioners association of Nigeria, Abia chapter, in a no holds barred interactive session to discuss the perceived state of decayed infrastructure in Abia, payment of civil servants salaries, security, politics, especially the alleged implosion that recently hit Abia PDP, the ban onKeke operators by 7pm, amongst other issues bothering the state.
The real intent of the media parley was for balanced reportage as demanded by the ethics of the pen profession, you will all recall that the organization undertook a tour of the commercial never center of the state, Aba, where we had a firsthand assessment of the state of the rot in the town and the government demanded that we get their own side of the story, so as to be abreast with their own efforts and challenges in trying to address those challenges.
It will be unfair to us by some members of the public and our friends who out of mischief or ignorance have been making attempts to spin a negative narrative of our media visit to the government house, also note as members of the fourth estate of the realm and our intentions should be developmental and not destructive, and our organization is in no way into enmity with the state government while our members also reserve the right to belong to any political association or opinion of their choice.
