Morocco’s exports to US hit $1 billion

Exportation from Morocco to the United States of America has increased from $260m in the year 2006 to $1.038bn in 2018.

This was revealed during the 6th session of the joint committee conference for the follow-up of the Morocco-US Trade Agreement
which held on Wednesday.

The meeting which was co-chaired by Morocco’s Minister of Industry, Investment, Trade and Digital Economy, Moulay Hafid
Elalamy and the US Trade Representative Assistant for Europe and the Middle East, Dan Mullaney, focused on ways to foster the
development of trade relations and improve bilateral trade.

It also analysed ways to give more content and dynamism to the free trade agreement, mainly in the sectors of agriculture,
textiles, investment and customs.

It was revealed during the conference that the volume of trade between Morocco and the US quadrupled during the period
of 2006-2018, reaching approximately $5.44 bn in 2018, compared to $1.34 bn in 2006.

During the period of 2006 to 2018, Moroccan exports to the US increased to $1.038 bn in 2018 from $260m, while importation from
the US to Morocco hit $4.06bn from $1.008 bn.
