Chairman Channels Media Group Visits NYSC DG Over Precious Owolabi’s Death

The Chairman of Channels Media Group, Mr John Momoh, has paid a condolence visit to the Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier -General Shuaibu Ibrahim in Abuja.

The visit was to sympathise with the NYSC over the death of Precious Owolabi, a serving youth Corp Member with Channels Television.

Owolabi was amongst those killed in a clash between members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) popularly known as Shiites and the police in Abuja on Monday.

According to Mr Momoh, the late Owolabi was a budding upcoming journalist who took his work seriously.

He thanked the NYSC DG for the support given, with the hope that such an occurrence doesn’t happen again.

“We have lost this young man, a budding upcoming journalist, someone who was very diligent in his work, took his work very seriously.

“So we thought there was a need for us to come and see you and let you know that our prayers and thoughts are with the families of this young man and the NYSC.

“We would like to thank you for all the support given and to pray that this doesn’t happen again and we know that you are very concerned about every corps member and that’s the same mantra that we pursue at Channels TV,” he added.

Meanwhile, Brigadier -General Ibrahim condemned Owolabi’s death and said the news came as a shock.

He also thanked the Channels TV crew and management for the response and hoped that other corps members will be spurred for greater service to the country.

“His death was quite shocking to us; we pray that the Lord will grant him eternal rest so that other Corps members will also learn from what has happened, what spurred him for greater service to our country.

“Thank you and we quite appreciate by the roles played by your correspondents in Abuja who were with us at the mortuary and they accompanied the corpse to Zaria.”

Owolabi will be buried on Thursday in Kaduna State.
