Couple allegedly beat man to death over attempted stealing in Osun
A couple identified as Samson Babarinde and Omolabake Babarinde allegedly beat a middle-aged man simply known as Taiwo to death over attempted stealing at Ilesa community, Nigerian Tribune authoritatively gathered.
The incident was said to have occurred on the 11th of August around Heringan Hotel junction, Imo, Ilesa.
Confirming the development to journalists in Osogbo on Sunday, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Osun State Police command, Mrs Folasade Odoro explained that the couple, who had fled their residence along Breweries Road, Imo, Ilesa and others used sticks and cudgels to beat the deceased to death.
According to her, Taiwo, whose surname and address could not be ascertained was alleged to have attempted to steal at the workshop of one Ogundele Ayo, which is adjacent to Heringan Hotel junction, Imo, Ilesa.
Odoro stated further that “they dumped the corpse of the deceased at a location along Ife-Akure expressway”, adding that the remains of the deceased have been deposited at the morgue of Wesley Guild Hospital, Ilesa for autopsy.
She, however, hinted that Ogundele Ayo and Taiwo Oluwarotimi have been arrested in connection to the killing, just as efforts were being intensified to apprehend the fleeing couple.
