Breaking: Appeal court nullifies Metuh’s conviction, orders retrial

Abuja Division of the Appeal Court has nullified the conviction of former national publicity secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Olisa Metuh.

Justice Okon Abang of a Federal High Court, Abuja had in February this year sentenced Metuh to seven years imprisonment for money laundering to the tune of N400m.

However, in judgement Wednesday afternoon, a three-man panel headed by Stephen Ada nullified Metuh’s conviction on the grounds of likely bias of the trial judge.

The Appeal Court ordered the case to be remitted back to the lower court for a retrial. The appellate court also ordered the case to be assigned to another judge.
