Football game, Njoku seek youths encouragement

The Honourable Commissioner for Environment Chief Donatus Njoku has urged all the rich and most influential people in Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State to embark on a humanitarian project to encourage youths to participate in sports activities especially football as it remains the major unified sector that attracts all and sundry.

According to the commissioner who is also the donor of the trophies during the grand finale of the football competition at Onicha Local Government headquarter field, said he was motivated to donate the Cup to enable youths to discover their talents and develop it.
He advised the participants to put more effort into the activity stressing that football remains the area where people dwell to determine and develop their talents.
Njoku further promised to dedicate all he had to the Onicha LGA stating that the councils have played a vital role in his life which he will continue to encourage them with whatsoever he has.
He urged the thirty-six secondary School that participated in the tournament never to see sports as a child play as he will continue to encourage the game every year.
“My motivation is to further support His Excellency Executive Governor of Ebonyi State Engr David Umahi on the effort his making to develop youths and  sports in the state.
“He understands that the youths are the leaders of tomorrow and make a very good foundation for their development today for it will materialise for a greater tomorrow.
 “My second objectives is to unify our people because sports especially football is a major unified sector any where you go and it attract everyone including the political class in Onicha LGA.
“So I want you all to take sports serious and should never take it as a child’s play, those schools that participated this year should hold fast because by God’s special grace, its going to be an annual event.”
In his remarks the member representing Ohaozara, Onicha, Ivo constituency at the Federal Representative Hon Linus Okorie, commended the Honourable Commissioner for supporting the governor in the area of development and empowerment describe his performance as impressive,  encouraging and satisfactory maintaining that the gesture is what leaders should emulate as he will also kick off his own tournament.
He also promise to give support and contact to make sure the programme is sustainable, pointing that the game will  enable the youths to find their talents and channel them into productive ventures as some of them may grow up to become international stars.
