NYSC charges Ekiti corpers to take advantage of skills acquisition programmes

NYSCTHE Ekiti State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mrs Emmanuella Okpongete, has warned the 1734 corps members deployed to the state for their national service against vices that could ruin their future.

Mrs. Okpongete, who gave the charge on Thursday at the swearing in of the corps members, charged them to “shun evil act capable of leading them into trouble such as drug abuse, cult activities, prostitution and malingering after light out.”

At the official opening of their orientation and swearing-in ceremony of the 2018 Batch B corps members deployed to Ekiti State, held at the permanent orientation camp in Ise/Orun/Emure-Ekiti, she expressed satisfaction with what she said was the patriotism of the youths.

She admonished the corp members to take advantage of the NYSC skills acquisition and entrepreneurship development (SAED) programme very serious, pointing out that there were no white collar jobs anywhere in the nation now.

Okpongete also used the medium to appeal to traditional rulers in the state to see the corps members as their children and treat them as one of their own, saying “this is the reason behind the establishment of the scheme to curb menace of ethnicity, sectionalism and tribalism.”

She presented 1734 corps members which consists of 1064 males and 670 females registered at the camp.

Earlier, the Ekiti State Chief Judge, Justice Ayodeji Daramola, who was represented by Justice Segun Ogunyemi, had administered the oath of allegiance on the corps members.
