OCP Africa to collaborate with Nigeria on agricultural development

AfricaOCP Africa, a fertilizer manufacturing company has restated its commitment to be part of Nigeria’s agricultural development initiatives.
The Managing Director of OCP, Mustapha El Ouafi, made this known on Tuesday, while addressing journalists at the company’s headquarters in Casablanca, Morocco.

He pointed out that the company is seriously concerned about making Africa the laboratory of fertilizer of the future which is crucial to the development of agriculture, noting that Nigeria is a major player in the quest to actualise this vision.

He stated further that: “We are happy to be part of Nigeria’s agricultural development and fertilizer utilisation initiatives. Our goal and aspiration are to make the desired results realisable.

“We want to be the laboratory of fertilizer of the future which is crucial to the development of agriculture in Africa and the world at large and would continue to work hand-in-hand with the Nigerian government and other stakeholders in the agricultural sector as it is a known fact that Nigeria is one of the major hubs of agriculture in Africa and as a matter of fact the world as a whole.

El Ouani, also informed that OCP would collaborate with agricultural research institutes in Nigeria to carry out research on soils in order to know the kind of fertilizer to apply to a particular soil as this can only guarantee quality and improved yields for farmers.
