priestsTwo new priests: Reverend Father Augustine Etsemikhena Kobor and Reverend Father Ayokanmi Patrick Jemiseye, have increased the number of priests in the Catholic Diocese of Ekiti, following their elevation to the order of the presbyterate by the Catholic Bishop of Ekiti Diocese, Most Reverend Felix Femi Ajakaye.

At the ordination mass held at St. Patrick Cathedral, Ado Ekiti, on October 2, two seminarians, Victor Oluwaseun Alabi and Anthony Dayo Oluwadare-Jemiseye, were also raised to the Order of the Diaconate also by Most Reverend Ajakaye.

In his homily on the occasion, Bishop Ajakaye said charged priests to be ministers of mercy, pointing out that they must “be merciful as your heavenly Father is merciful.”

According to him, the strength of a priest depends in his relationship with Christ, and he, therefore, advised them to keep growing through continual life of prayer.

Bishop Ajakaye said: “A priest is called to simplicity of life, not being in competition with any human being over material things of this life. You must be a symbol of integrity and humility and totally shun arrogance.”

He said as priests, “we are to be close to the people we serve; be pastors rather than being administrators and use your talents positively because priestly authority must be linked to service.”
