NNPPAGGRIEVED member of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Bauchi state who contested but lost the party’s governorship primary election, Mahmoud MaiJama’a Ajiya has dumped the party just as some defeated aspirants of the ruling APC in state have berated the Governor, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar for not pacifying them following the outcome of last primaries of the party.

Also the Chairman of the NNPP in Bogoro local government area, Mr Ishaku Andrawus has reportedly dumped the party alongside 25,000 of his supporters and joined the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The former governorship aspirant who stated this while speaking to news men on Wednesday in Bauchi, however, did not state the political party he was going to join and why he dumped the party as he merely declared that, “For now, I have not decided which party to join and my reasons for leaving the party is personal to me, but I will soon make my political direction public as soon as possible”.

As for Ishaku Andrawus who defected from the NNPP alongside 25,000 supporters while reacting on the matter, said that the lack of justice displayed during the recent primaries in the state was the major reason he and his supporters dumped the party.

He said, “My exit from the party alongside my supporters is imperative in order to save our political career. The lack of Injustice displayed during the conduct of the recent primaries shows that the party has no respect for party rules and there is no level playing field for party members”.

“By this letter, I have exited the party alongside 25,000 of my followers to the PDP where I initially belonged in order to support Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara for his 2019 reelection bid”, he said.

He further disclosed that the NNPP has lost many of its members to the opposition in recent times in the state due to the problem of injustice that it has refused to address since the outcome of the last primaries.

Meanwhile, the meeting convened by the Bauchi State Governor, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar with aggrieved aspirants who contested for the State House of Assembly under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from different constituencies of the state on Monday ended in a deadlock.

While speaking on the outcome of the meeting with the Governor, Secretary of the forum of aspirants, Dr Muhammad Sunusi Ibrahim explained that the Governor only appealed to the aggrieved aspirants to exercise patience without taking any action to ensure that justice was done to them.

According to him, for peace and harmony to prevail in the state chapter of the APC, the party should replace the lists with the rightful candidates that are more popular in their various constituencies before the 2nd October INEC deadline.

He claimed that the Governor had admitted that the election was not fair just like the state chapter also shifted blame to the electoral committee sent by the National headquarters to conduct the exercise saying they were currently in a dilemma.

Muhammad Sunusi then threatened that if nothing was done about the matter between now and October 2nd, they would decide their next line of action which might not be pleasant to the party in the 2019 general elections.
