Court Summons Taraba APC Governorship Candidate Over Alleged Corruption

A Federal High Court sitting in Jalingo has granted an application by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to summon the former Acting Governor of Taraba State, Mr Sani Danladi.

Justice Stephen Pam granted the request while ruling on the application on Tuesday in the Taraba State capital.

Danladi who is the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2019 general elections is facing two counts of conspiracy and violation of financial regulations.

He is being charged with two others – a former Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly, Mark Useni, and former Minister of Labour and Productivity, Senator Joel Ikenya.

The EFCC accused them of collecting the sum of N450 million allegedly from former President Goodluck Jonathan, in the buildup to the 2015 general elections.

At the hearing of the case today, Counsel to the EFCC, Mr Ahmad Muntaka, asked Justice Pam to summon the former acting governor to appear before the court for the continuation of the case.

His request was unanimously agreed by the counsels to the former speaker and minister who are co-defendants in the case.

In his ruling, the judge directed service of summons on Mr Danladi to appear before the court on December 8, 2018, for mentioning of the case.
