The Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, has advised the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in the state to contribute profoundly to the overall growth and development of Nigeria.

He said this during the swearing-in ceremony of the Batch “C” (Stream I) corps members deployed to the state at the Permanent Orientation Camp, Ogbakuta, Iseyin on Thursday.

The Governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Otunba Moses Adeyemo, said the mandatory one year service was designed towards ensuring hard work, resilience and contribution to the development of their fatherland.

According to him, “this is a clarion call to contribute profoundly your quota to the overall growth and development of our dear fatherland, with a consistent display of resilience and hard work.”

He, however, advised them to avail themselves of the opportunities provided by the orientation and also assured them of a conducive service year, saying “the State under our administration will continue to ensure that conducive and secured environment already established are maintained all through your service year.”

The commissioner for youths and sports, who also doubles as the chairman of the Oyo State NYSC Governing board, Hon Abayomi Oke also reiterated the assurance of the state in giving the Corps members the best reception and hospitality.

He implored them to embrace the Skill Acquisition Programme (SAED) which focuses on the reduction of unemployment.

Earlier in her welcome address, the new NYSC State coordinator, Ambekemo Eniola, urged the corps members to contribute towards the unity and advancement of Oyo State in particular and Nigeria in general.

“This is a period of sacrifice. You will do well by enhancing and protecting the good names of your predecessors.”

She also disclosed that as at the approved time for cut-off, a total number of 2,182 Corps members were registered, comprising of 1,062 males and 1,120 females.
