TISHA by Sinmisola Ogúnyinka

Being a student teacher from Lagos, Abbey Ilori  is posted to Abagboro Community High School; a secondary school in a remote village far from his home and all he is used to. This posting is part of the requirements for his University degree in Post-primary Education.

Now amidst frustrations, Abbey does his possible best to teach English to local children who speak nothing but their dialect. Like that isn’t bad enough, he has to endure the discomfort of living in a village.

It can’t be too bad though, as he meets Toro, also a student teacher, but from another state. The duo develops a close bond, and life is more bearable. That is, until the arrival of four corps members for the NYSC programme. Then there’s also the young student who Abbey becomes obsessed with, giving us a beautiful tale of forbidden love, jealousy, survival of the fittest and the mad race against evil men
