My inner ears itch me often even though I use cotton bud. I want to know what causes it and how to avoid the problem.

An itchy ear canal (the tube that connects your outer ear to your eardrum) happens to people of all ages.  Itchy ears are typically due to a breakdown in ear skin health.  Common causes include, earwax lubrication, excess water in the ear as well as foreign particles and debris in the ear. Other reasons for itchy ears include Earwax  buildup.  You might have chronically itchy ears simply because they’re highly sensitive. However, itchy ears can also indicate an underlying medical condition. No matter the cause of your itch, it’s never a good idea to stick any objects in your ears. You could damage your inner ear, including the tiny bones that help you hear. To prevent irritation, avoid cleaning your ears with objects such as: cotton balls, cotton swabs, paper clips and bobby pins. Other ways to avoid irritation in your ears include: use of antiallergic jewelry, which can prevent allergic reactions that lead to itching. If you swim frequently, use a solution to dry up excess water in the ear canal. If you experience excess earwax production, you may want to keep your earwax at a manageable level by using doctor-approved approaches, such as eardrops or a bulb syringe.
