2019: Electorates demand for WASH issues from candidates

Electorates of Gamawa and Zaki local government areas of Bauchi state have pledged to demand for improved Water, Sanitation and Hygiene  (WASH) issues from candidates in the build-up to the 2019 general elections.
The pledge was made on Saturday when Bauchi State Network of Civil Society on Water and Sanitation reminded the people of the two local government areas on the importance of voting for credible candidates who will be focused on water sanitation and hygiene when elected into office.
Both the advocacy group and the communities participated at a Vote4WASH campaign awareness rally held in the area, supported by WaterAid Nigeria.
The Program Officer of NEWSAN, Nichol Kankani while addressing the rally stressed the need for people of Gamawa and Zakito elect good leaders, that can turn around the situation of water scarcity and improve living condition, through environmental cleanness.
In his remarks at the campaign, Ahmad Abba Juji, Ward Development Committee Chairman, said that the awareness campaign came at the right time, looking at schedules of political campaign rallies across the country, adding that the electorates have a better opportunity to ask the candidates on their plan to be voted into office in the next general elections.

The Community members applauded the efforts by the advocacy group, for making them enlightened at this crucial time and promised that they will maintain issues of water sanitation and hygiene as part of their priorities when voting next leaders.
More so, the advocacy group staged a walked rally round the town as part of the efforts to woo the electorates in order to make them exercise their franchise in the 2019 general elections.
The group also assured the electorates their readiness to provide the candidates with a pledge card to be signed as part of the commitment in order to hold them accountable on WASH issues after they might have been elected.
