The chairman of Irewole North East LCDA, Wasinmi Ikire, Hon Adeboye Opeyemi, on Thursday, flagged off free medical healthcare services across various health centres in different villages within the LCDA.

The event which was held at Wasinmi health centre, had in attendance the Chairman, Hon Adeboye Opeyemi, the Vice Chairman, Hon Arimiyau, the scribe to the LCDA, Mr Oyetoro Jelili and the council manager, Mrs Felicia Olabintan, while Irewole All Progressive Congress (APC), Chairman, Elders Forum, Pa Olubowale and his secretary, Hon Tayo Fawole, a onetime Irewole LG caretaker chairman were also in attendance.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman Irewole APC Elders Forum, Pa Olubowale, admonished the dwellers to judiciously make use of the opportunity presented to them, by ensuring they visit the health centres for a proper checkup, saying there are capable hands available for them,  instead of adopting self-medication.

In his own words,  Hon Opeyemi said the exercise was borne out of Governor Gboyega Oyetola-led administration’s desire for standard health services in the rural areas across the state.

“The Governor has shown within a limited time in office that better healthcare facilities and services remain germane to his administration, just as it is generally believed that health is wealth,” he said.

The chairman also encouraged them to change their disposition towards public health centres, as it has shown over time people prefer going to the private hospital even when they are below standards compare to public health centres, where there are better facilities and professional hands.

He also used the opportunity to remind the people that free medical surgery is currently going on at Ikire General Hospital and that they can go there for consultation.
